There are some nice swimming areas, too!

Tour the Museum of the Rockies (<-- website linked) Suggested time frame - 2 hours Suggested age range - Toddlers and up Cost - 4 years old and younger: Free 5 and up: See website Additional notes - This place has a special kids' area upstairs (called Explore Yellowstone) where they can actually touch everything and play. They also have a real 1889 homestead off to the side called the Living History Farm where they keep real chickens, gardens, and run the house as it really would be run in the 1800s. The kids loved the well they could pump in order to water the plants. Very kid-friendly! Explore the Montana Science Center (<-- website linked) Suggested time frame - 1 to 3 hours Suggested age range - 1 and up (we took kids aged 2, 4, and 6 and they all happily played for 2 hours) Cost - 2 years old and up: $9 Additional notes - So fun!! All three kids could have stayed for the entire day. There's so much to do and so many different tactile experiences. Highly recommended. Play at the Dinosaur Playground Suggested time frame - 15 minutes to an hour Suggested age range - Toddlers and up Cost - Free Additional notes - Fun place to spend a little time! They have some picnic spots, too. Best to play on more overcast days as the sun can really heat up the playground, swings, and slides. butte, MontanaTo Do:
Tour the World Museum of Mining (<-- website linked) Suggested time frame - 1 hour for town area and indoor museum, 2+ hours for underground mine tour, town, and indoor museum Suggested age range - 5 and up for town and above ground museum, older kids and up for underground mine tour (5+ are permitted, but the guide does a lot of explaining and it's a little musty/dark underground so young kids may not like it) Cost - 4 years old and under: Free 5 and up: See website Additional notes - Very knowledgeable staff and a really unique place. Getting to head a hundred feet underground and see the real conditions in which miners work was an eye-opening experience. Just be mindful that you need to book the underground tour online ahead of time and maybe a few days in advance. Visit the Granite Mountain Speculator Mine (<-- website linked) Suggested time frame - 15 to 30 minutes Suggested age range - Middle school and up Cost - Free Additional notes - This is a beautiful location to see expansive views of Butte and learn a little more about its history.
